Got Funk: A Wondercide Review

Hi.

Teton gets a bath about once a month. After his bath, he gets a good brushin’ and a flea treatment.

I’m a huge fan of the Buddy Wash Original Lavender & Mint Dog Shampoo & Conditioner and have been buying it for years at my local pet store. I love that it’s a shampoo and a conditioner and it leaves Teton smelling great.

Being that I love Buddy Wash so much, I was a bit skeptical when I received a sample of shampoo from a brand called Wondercide.

Wondercide sent us a bar of their Hypoallergenic Natural Shampoo Bar, which is made of some awesome ingredients like coconut oil, shea butter, and neem oil and leaf extract. I didn’t know what neem was until a few years ago when Teton had some gnarly dandruff, but I learned that it comes from a tree which originates in India and has a ton of amazing benefits for the skin. It’s super moisturizing, helps the healing process when irritated skin is present, and aids in the destruction of bacteria, viruses, and fungi.

Some of the neem products I’ve used in the past for Teton had a strong smoky smell that wasn’t terrible but wasn’t exactly snuggle-worthy, either. Wondercide’s, though…smells fantastic! It’s fresh and clean while being subtle and cozy.

This bar is the average size of your typical bar of soap, but is pretty thick and hearty.

When I first pulled it out of its box, I thought to myself, “Well, this will last about 1.5 shampoos with how furry Teton is.”

I was pleasantly surprised, then, to find that one bath left the bar looking almost as if it hadn’t been used!

Almost. 😉

The bar sudsed up like a pro while I bathed Teton. It was much easier to use than I anticipated, having never used a shampoo bar before. I was able to either run the bar all along his body or to rub the bar in between my hands and then massage him with the suds.

It rinsed out with ease and didn’t dry out his fur or skin. I’m a fan!

Along with our shampoo bar, Wondercide sent a bottle of their Fresh Dog Deodorizer Spray, which also has neem in it, along with lavender, cedar, and lemongrass. Yasssss.

This stuff smells great and is super easy to use. Just spray it on between baths to freshen things up or (I love this) spray it on your dog’s bed or in other areas he/she spends time.

Bathing your dog too often can strip some of the good natural properties that are in their fur and on their skin. I like deodorizers like this one because if your dog isn’t due for a bath yet but has a little funk, you can use them in between washes. They’re also a nice thing to have on hand if your dog hates baths.

If you’re interested in trying out either of these Wondercide products, they are both on sale now on Wondercide’s website. Use coupon code DOGDAYS17 to save 17%!

Until next time!

Happy tails…
